Distributed Automatic Load Frequency Control With Optimality in Power Systems

With the increasing penetration of renewable energy resources, power systems confront new challenges in maintaining balance and nominal frequency. This article studies load-side frequency control to handle these challenges. In particular, a fully distributed automatic load (ALC) algorithm, which only needs local measurement communication, is proposed. We prove that algorithm globally converges an optimal operating point minimizes total disutility users, restores scheduled tie-line flows, respects capacity limits thermal constraints transmission lines. Furthermore, global exponential convergence reduced ALC without considering proved leveraged study dynamical tracking performance robustness algorithm. Finally, effectiveness, optimality, proposed are demonstrated via numerical simulations.
